Butylone or bk-MBDB is a phenethylamine with entactogen, psychedelic, and stimulant effects. Butylone has a short history of human usage and little is known about it's effects on the human body. It was first formally studied in 2009 where it was shown to metabolized similar to methylone.
Although no use is safe, oral use of butylone is the least damaging and intrusive. Oral doses last longer but also take longer to get started; it is important not to redose early even if you feel it has not affected you. Using a gel capsule can take up to 45 minutes to start. Side-effects from snorting seem to be worse when compared to taking the same total dose orally - its "harsh" on the body. It's recommended to not share straws/notes with other people as you can increase the risk of infection.
This chemical is more therapeutic than recreational in my opinion. It certainly lacks that intense bodily euphoria and positive "push" that mdma has, in other words that hedonistic dopamine rush. But contains that unique social empathy and ego softening of MDMA. The bodily feeling or intoxication is very clean and light, hence why I see why it may lack recreation potential, but in saying that, the stimulation could keep one dancing most of the night. Best suited in a quiet social situation with your close friends, as you have many much needed verbal releases.
Empathogen and stimulant of the cathinone class.
